Don’t you find that entrancing? I mean, for a lot of tech consumers out there, an upgrade is a task that is usually treated with apprehension and slight trepidation. If truth be told, an upgrade is very important and it ensures that your gadget is updated to accommodate the new functions that your OS provider offers.
As a matter of fact, Skype, the famous
video-chatting service, merged with Norton by Symantec and TomTom in
establishing and achieving a goal that is to encourage each consumer to update
their software frequently.
The
primary objective of this movement is to educate all gadget users on the
essence of keeping their software up to date, especially now that some software
version updates come for free. This is in response to the growing number of
users in America, Britain, and Germany who have been surveyed to not updating their software without the prompts of
peers, and opinion leaders. We think that this is all just a case of not
letting people know how beneficial a software upgrade is.
Heraclitus-
the Greek philosopher- once said that the only permanent thing in this world is
change. So how come we don’t recognize the need for it at the right time? That
is the question that advertisers must counter in their pursuit to compel people
to do the desired action.
According
to Yahoo News:
"While
women are the main purchasers of technology, they still rely on men to make the
updates for them," stated the press release. "According to the study,
it seems that men upgrade their computer software more regularly than women
when prompted to: 56 percent of men indicated they always update their software
when prompted while only 49 percent of women said the same."
For
the benefit of everybody, Skype,
Symantec and TomTom have provided some helpful tips in making sure that
software updates are widely available and the software itself is easily
downloadable, provided that it is free. Skype also informs the people via
automatic updates. All they have to do is to turn on the default using the most
recent version of Skype for Windows and even for MacBooks.
As
a smartphone and laptop owner, more often than not,
I used to ignore it when my phone notifies me of software upgrades. I also used
not to be so amused whenever my OS provider announces a new update. I
realized my nonchalance will not only limit the capabilities of mysmartphone.
It can also limit me as a smartphone subscriber.
All
I can say is that International Technology Upgrade Week or not, we must still
understand the value and advantage of grabbing every opportunity to maximize
the power of our gadgets like the smartphone.
Unless, of course, you want it to be considered a thing of the past in the next
few months!
Nonetheless,
you can still sell
your old cell phone at Cash for Smartphones!
