Are Smartphones That Important to Us?

Mobile phones have come a long way since they became available to the public almost 2 decades ago. They moved along from being a status symbol when first introduced to becoming a tool for communication to being an enabler that allowed people to do things they do in the office even when they are traveling.

Integrating different gadgets into one nifty package has become the battle cry of mobile phone manufacturers.  It started with incorporating a music player into a mobile phone.  Then the introduction of camera phones jump-started the popularity of mobile phones.  Imagine, you can take pictures of things instantly even without a separate camera because your mobile phone has already a built in one.  The convenience of it surely satisfied a lot of people.  However, given the never-ending thirst of the human race for something bigger and better than what they have, manufacturers have no choice but to innovate and a make a better mobile phone than their previous model.

This always evolving and upgrading of products has given birth to the new breed of mobile phone aptly called smartphones.  There are over a hundred million units of smartphones that have been already sold to the market.   The typical smartphone unit now has a touchscreen, sliding keyboard and the capability to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi.    However, that is not just limited to those things because these gadgets are also considered to be multimedia players because they can store and play music and videos and play games.

Smartphones have evolved into microcomputers because they can do almost everything that a laptop or a desktop could do.  Technology has allowed people to access and process information just by using their gadget.  This is the reason why office workers who are always on the go see this gadget as a productivity tool that helps them with their work. 

With the success of these smartphones in the market, of course, people are more than willing to snap them up no matter how expensive they are. For people who have no problems with their finances, getting one is not a problem.  There is no need for them to buy used smartphones because they can afford to purchase a brand new one. 

However, for those who cannot shell out the money to purchase smartphones instantly, the option is to go to people who buy and sell smartphones that are second hand or refurbished.  These units are not new but are still in good condition.  The great thing is that when you buy used smartphones, the cost to acquire one is definitely much lower than the listed price of a brand new one.  

Smartphones are definitely an important tool nowadays because of the things that they can do.  It allows us to be connected and reachable by other people no matter where we are.  It is not just a status symbol but also a communications and multimedia tool that can help us with the things that we do.
